.. looking for a bit of advice..

I have a '93 4.0HC and to be honest I feel like the engine is getting a bit "tired" - all due to being left down the straight by a friends standard 4.0 at the last track day! Having covered 100k with no major issues, I'm looking to find a reliable (and reasonably priced!) firm to check everything over, replace whats needed and tweak the engine. I'm not thinking of going crazy as I would like to retain the drivability - however as its not a daily driver I am prepared to sacrifice some comfort for track day fun.

I'm based in London, however the car is garaged in Leeds over winter so suggestions for firms near both locations are most welcome. If anyone has previous experience in this field, I'd love to know what can be gained on the power front and what its likely to cost.

cheers

Al

Seconded for V8 Developments, they've done some storming engines for me in the past at silly cheap money .. absolute bargains. I trust no-one else with my RV8 rebuilds

Paul at Austec is considerably nearer you I thnk.

V8 Developments are in Lincolnshire, Austec is in Crawley, West Sussex and you (I believe from your profile) are in London.

When you're talking about engine rebuilds you're potentially talking about thousands of pounds spend. Please consider that if you ask a question like "who do I go to/who do you recommend" you'll only ever hear the positive side of the answer and never any negatives due to the PH name and shame policy.

There is always Jamie at www.castle-race-engines.com/ as well. His workshop is based near silverstone.

Being Ex TVR power he has seen the odd Chimaera <LOL> and has done a fantastic job on the RV8 in the Tuscan racer, thats currently leading the series

He is also right next to Newlun so if you need any bodywork mods or touchups whilst its there its just the place

Has anybody on here had an engine rebuild done (without any mods) and if so, what sort of money are we talking?

I've just had one done at Austec - FULL re-build though which included all new pistons and Top Hat Liners, drop me an e-mail if you want to know the full costs...
