Sorry for the completley un-technical description, however at -- mph the carpet next to the accelerator pedal bellows out as if there is some kind of hole / leak allowing air through. Just had it looked at and the vent is OK. Can anyone help please?????

The inner wheel arch goes all the way from behind the indicator/headlight area to the drivers foot well, so yes there will be some air pushing the carpet out, although most of that is stopped by one of the blowers for the vents, I would guess that some of the sealant for the blower assembly has become unstuck and causing the symptoms you describe. Nothing to worry about unless the carpet is in danger of stopping the loud pedal from returning, in which case I'd take the carpet out and reseal the blower box with some mastic.

Thanks, Is the blower box easily reached? I am more concerned about water entering the vehicle

Yes, your right foot would rub against it if it wasnt for the carpet.

Sorry for resurrecting this old thread, just came across it looking for something else.

When I replaced the carpets in mine I found a large hole, which had been taped over with masking tape, presumably at the factory. Running around without carpet the tape blew off, and a howling gale was coming through. I think air coming in through the front gets channelled down through the wings, and without the carpet to hold the tape in place the pressure was too much. My leg got very dirty from this, so it's not clean air, and it probably can be wet. I used copious amounts of duck tape to seal this before putting the new carpets in.
