Just sat looking at my Chim, and wondering if its worth changing the front alloys to 16", I have seen some cars with 16" alloys (standard ones) but much later build, also the 16" spiders which look awesome. Has anyone changed there alloys? and apart from looks has it changed the cars set up in anyway?

I,ve got 16" spiders on mine....since being fitted the steering is lighter for some reason even though the tyres are wider ? The car certainly feels nicer to drive.

Mick, Your car looks great with the spiders and clear lenses, just done my side lenses and bought the front ones - apparently a sod to fit - Where did you get the spiders from??

Got 16" Spiders (graphite grey) on mine, obviously with the 5-stud hub fitting, plus the uprated brake kit.

Not having had the pleasure(?) of driving a car on standard rims, I can only say "get some, pronto".

The car handles well, and looks the dogs.

Plus, got rid of the spare, and now just carry 2 cans of tyre weld - bingo - extra boot space as well!

Will have to have a look, what colour is your car? - I think Alloy Silver would suit mine better.

Brooklands green, with a roof in green - loads better than it sounds - wouldn't have bought a green car, but the roof is contrasting, and totally set off by the wheels.

Personally, I think the graphite colour wheels go with anything - if I had my choice, I would have chosen a nimbus grey paintwork with the graphite spider alloys.

Out of interest I see you are a Racing tyre manager UK so can I ask what tyres you have on your rims? I have 17"/18" on my Griff 500 and I'm coming up to replace the tyres soon. Curently on Bridgestone SO2pp's 215 40x17 / 255 35/18. I'm inclined towards the Goodyear F1's same size at the front and drop to 245 35/18 rears. Be interested in you thoughts. Rich...

Wheels are AJP, and the tyres are Pirelli P Zero. 215 front and 235 rear, this was dictated by the width of the rims. Rims were £500 new so were sensible money i thought, and i had a hellava deal on the tyres!!

Peninsula TVR in Exeter (tried several dealers some didn't call back and some couldn't be bothered - these guys are really helpful) under £70 for the pair, including postage and orange bulbs, which they inserted for me. Just need to find someone to fit them to the car - the job shouldn't take long but breaking the mastik seal of the originals without cracking the bodywork can be tricky apparently. Got quote at £40 + VAT locally.
