Fuel leak in boot:(
Discussion
Went out to check a strong petrol smell coming from the garage yesterday.
It could have either been the 25 year old, BL Coventry built, so called unreliable British Sports car that was built in the days of strikes and union problems, or the 5 year old TVR.
Guess which one it was??
The boot of the Chimaera is damp with fuel which has dropped out of the rear wing onto the garage floor from the left rear of the tank.
The annoying thing is that it has only made one journey since its service last month, down to Virginia Waters.
I know Tony Hall had the same problem, is it a leaky pipe that can easily be fixed or will it be a couple of hundred pounds job, and a day trip to Stansted to get a TVR spannerman to do it.

Its probably one of two pipes that may be leaking/split/loose
Firstly, the supply hose coming from the petrol tank,it goes through the body and attatches to the fuel pump,
this hose is found on the bottom left forward side of the petrol tank(not much room and its hidden)and is normaly secured with a steel jubilee clip on the tank and pump end, its likely that the clip is loose or the hose may be split etc hense the fuel on that side.
The other possible, is the return fuel hose,
which is found on the top right side of the tank,
again hidden on the forward side and to access this you need to lift up the carpets on top of the fuel tank and peek behind. If this doesnt work then the 2 straps that hold the tank in need to be undone, they have 2 bolts on each strap. If you need to remove the tank completely the filler neck needs to be removed,2 jubilee clips and if its an early car the overflow hose will need to be removed from the neck.
Its more than likely the supply side hose,
if possible fit a marine grade stainless steel jubilee clip on the hose as they never rust and can take better torque.
this happened to me not that long ago and thankfully there wasn't much fuel in the tank at the time.
hope you find the leak

Easy enough job to do, just don't spill a gallon of petrol over the garage floor when you take the tank out. It'll spill when yu undo the jubilee clip off the bottom hose or if you tug the tank too much looking for the problem!. Try to get tank as empty as poss first, i.e. drive it aboot a bit.
petrol smell in the downstairs loo (in the house but next to garage, no obvious way thro') now disipating after a fortnight

The smell is seeping through into the Utility room and ajoining room.
Apparently our downstairs loo was getting smelly aswell.
I have pulled the TVR out of the garage now and it is staying outside until I can get it up to Castle TVR on Saturday (they are going to look at it on Tuesday).
