I have a sports exaust on but I am thinking of taking out the main cat (just want more noise). Has any one done this and is it much noiser. Did you have to get any settings done to the engine. Ps forgot to say it's a Chim 500.

I removed all the cats(two pre,one main)on my Griff 500
and even with the std exhaust it sounds great.
You will need to change the fuel map to a cat free one,
to do this you change a chip in the ECU and the use a different value tune resitor,it's very cheap and easy to do.I got a cat replacement pipe from ACT and the electrical parts are available from TVR.(I have the part No's if needed). It made a big difference to the power on my car has the original cat was clogged and damaged,I can't say how much power(if any) you'd gain by replacing a good cat,but it's worth it for the noise alone.Don't forget MOT's will be a problem and your Ins company might not be to happy, but stuff them and get it done you won't regret it.

I have sports exhaust but decided not to remove cat because a) too loud for track days
b) needs rechipping and c) could foul fuel regulations on next MOT. Good luck!
