I think my drivers side wing mirror is broken but could do with some advice...

The painted mirror housing is loose, wobbling around. The bit that is fixed to the door (unpainted gray plastic) is solidly in place with no movement. I looked in the bible which mentions a grub screw but I have looked very closely and cant see one. So can anyone tell me, is the mirror broken and a new one needed or is it just loose ?

The worrying bit is that the unpainted bit bolted to the door is firm and not moving so I suspect the post inside the mirror that fixes to the door mounting is broken (grrrr)

Any help or comments appreciated before I trot off to the local bodyshop with a big pile of beer tokens :-(

Had the same problem a while back, got a collapsable collum from tvrcarparts.com for £15. Bit of a fiddly job to do.
I couldn't get to the grub screw either, so I took off the interior door panel snipped the wires used critchley markers and spaded them.
Then managed detatch the mirror assembly and unscrew the wing mirror post out of the door.
When assembling the mirror I did it completly assembled and used a bit of sealant on the threads.

Regards,

Paul

Cheers paul - I will order a post and get to work taking the door apart next weekend. Needed to get in there anyway as my window barely goes up and makes horrible grinding noises so this will give me a chance to investigate further !
