Hi Chim guys.

Just a note to let you know that after six trouble free and fun filled years of S3 ownership I have today taken delivery of an Arena Red 1998 4.5 Chimaera. I haven't stopped smiling yet. What a car! All the electrics work too (at the moment).

No doubt I shall be pestering your wise heads with newbie questions - please be kind to me! I hope to see you around. Unfortunately I can't make the Chimfest this weekend.

That's good to hear. I think most TVRs like to be driven regularly. Hopefully mine will be as good. I have just ordered an accumate as a precaution!!!!

Seems that if you sell your TVR the only car that can replace it is a faster TVR!

Well, I tried to get a Lotus Elise, but that lasted less than a year before I was back to TVR with a faster one...................

I dont think any other car can give you the thrills a trev can for similar money, you just need to love it and give it lots of attention or it will get pissed off with you and break down lol

In all fairness, the Elise was a dream to drive, the handling was amazing, felt so much better than my old Chimaera. But, I missed the V8 burble, and the sheer "sex on wheels" that is the Chimaera, the most aesthetically pleasing car I think.

Interesting & a good choice. I still fancy an S3 and would love to know how it compares with a Chim. I bought my 500 in January and very pleased with it, although handling not in the league of a previous MX5 I owned - i've always liked the S3 and wondered if it would be teh best of both worlds ?

Having a Chim this week and a S3C a couple of weeks back I can tell you that the S has allot harsher ride in comparison to the soft Chim. Its all horses for courses really as the Chim is allot faster.
I'm planning to ditch the shocks and springs on mine to try and get back some of the S feel.

Our new Chimaera actually has rather good feeling handling and steering. I did wonder if the previous owner had done something to the set-up, but it feels a lot better than my old Chimaera ever did...

I too have joined the TVR Chim club this week with a purchase of a stunning prowler pruple 97 400. It is awesome! I sold my 225 Audi TT for it which I had only bought in May after selling my 165 BHP Elise.

The TVR is by far the best car I have ever owned, why did I wast a year with a Lotus Elise???

I've had my 95 400 for a week and a day and I am loving it (12.9 MPG on first tank full)!

Never thought I could own a TVR but love sports cars having owned a 2 litre Twin Cam Dutton Phaeton for the last 15 years. God bless ebay for delivering me a decent car for only £5,300!!!

I agree, that is outrageous. For some years I've held this (patently wrong now!) impression that my, good dailly driver, '95 was worth at least 9k!

Either TVRobin is facing some big garage fees over the coming months- or I'm gonna ring my insurance company and downgrade the insurable value of my car by half!

Is it time we had another Chimaera value update? Or am I just delusioned?

I've just tried to value my car on-line but it appears both Parkers & Glass's sites now require you to register. I decided against this due to the email/snail mail crap that would inevitably follow .
