My Chimaera has'nt been serviced for 2yrs (last one was 24000 miles)and its only done 28000 miles. Should I get a service now, or will an oil change be sufficent until the 30000 miles book service? Cars' driving ok and I have cleaned the brakes etc.

2,000 miles a year

You need to find a good home for it, poor thing!

On a slightly more serious note, if you ever intend to sell it the potential butyers will want to see that it has been maintained.

I think you will find that regardless of mileage it needs a a service every year. Rich...

What sort of oil has got in it, mineral oils degrade over time, henec service intervals of 6,000 miles or 6 months (in the old days) Don't know the time frame for modern oils but I wouldn't leave anything in for longer than a year

Maybe I'm over cautious, don't think so though

Agreed and you live in the countryside(ish)

You are not giving the baby enough road time.

I bought mine at the end of March last year on just over 52500, and now it is just under 54000.

I did try and use it regularly, for a week last summer when the Toyota was having some work done.
It lasted 4 days of every day use(20 miles)then broke down!!

I've just had it serviced, have only used it once since, and it has a leaky fuel line in the boot.
It has got to go up to Castle again this weekend.

I thought if I used it a lot it would break, which after a week it did, and if I used it every now and then it would be o.k,......and it still breaks.

I wish it was as well built as my Spitfire!!

I bought one like this 7 years old and only 16K on the clock no service for 2 years and had been laid up. Result was a galaxy of electrical faults due to corrosion and fuse box had to be replaced. Strongly suggest full service asap.

My car gets driven every weekend during the winter and once or twice during the summer months during the week as well. So its not sitting in a garage, sure its only doing small milages but the car is used. However I will take your advise and get a service.
