I have just bought a '97 Chimaera 4.5, I am collecting it next weekend and cannot wait cool

The car is being fully serviced, MOTd and inspected at Williams in Bristol before collection and the current owner has kindly agreed to pay for this and any remedial work that is needed.

Outside of chassis, cams and a general once over, anything specifically to ask them to watch out for? It only has 20,000 miles with full TVR service history. Any help gratefully received beer

Thanks Chris, I am used to some fairly lairy RWD cars, the plan is sunny days only so a very limited mileage insurance policy for the UK seems sensible

Chauch, understandable, but promise here and now you will at least double the 2.2k miles per year the previous owner put on the clock These cars need to be driven regularly.

Most certainly my intention

Although a weekend toy, it is probably the most "useable" toy I have even had, assuming it behaves itself of course.

Any ideas on any toher areas to be looking for guys??

Check for accident damage, condition of the wishbones, delamination of the windscreen (lower edges), dampness in the carpets behind the seats and in the foot well, leaks from the PAS rack (Costly to refurbish), condition of the rear plastic screen, check all the electrics work (Windows, mirrors etc), and check that the alarm is working including the sounder (there in the nose of the car and can fail after a while).

These were just some of the normal things to look at and some may be less relavant on such a low mileage car, but if you need a more detailed buying guide, look up 'Big Al' on PH's and he'll Email you a list.... thumbup

Really appreciated thanks thumbup

I know that there is some damage to the rear carpet around the hood from condensation and hopefully a new section of carpet is not too dear. All of the rest will be added to the list. Thanks again....

I have already had the embarrassment of having to get my wife to open the door for me in the showroom as I was stuck and too embarrassed to ask eek

Getting really excited now, going to be a long week I fear....

Nice one bloke, hope you enjoy it. Sure you'll find help on here if any niggles arise. Be excellent first trip out to the 'Chimfest' on Sunday.

Fairly even mix between the two..

Give the club office a call on: 01952 822126

Pop along to Chimfest anyway, you can join there and then and there will be plenty of members not in TVR's or not in Chims (see the "invasion" planned on the Griff forums). We are an enthusiasts club and don't require ownership of a TVR to be in the club.

Amongst the benefits are: Sprint, Club office, regalia, insurance, track days, motor sport support/participation, National "big" events, local regional events, Local meets & support, Website & forums, members discounts

Hope this helps
