Just noticed that there are rear number plate lights on the Chim had mine two years and dont think they have ever worked, the connections seem to have snapped of the fiberglass. the cars has been through two mots, one only two weeks ago. Looks like they never noticed either. what bulbs should be used ?????. cannot see how they will work being behine the number plate ?????

I don't know what lamps they use, but you clearly have the backlit variety. The car should be fitted with a special numberplate that allows light through, but if the plates have been changed for any reason they're sometimes fitted with standard plates. Main dealers will be able to supply the proper plates.

As the last post suggets, I have 97 chim 500 with back lit no plate (honeycombe design no palte) which allows the lights to shine through......... they are 5 watt bullet blubs

www.fancyplates.com is your friend - order a rear plate, there is an option for TVR BACKLIT. If you have a normal plate it wont let light through.

Probably passed the MOT because the tester couldnt find the number plate lights and couldnt be bothered to ask ....

SO you have taken the plate off and turned on sidelights and you get no light from them at all ? Best to take the current bulb out and pop to halfrauds to get an exact replacement. If there is no juice getting through take it to your local auto electrician probably cost about £10 to fault find and fix any broken connections...
