Hi all,
Well i have normally had fast bikes but recently wrote off my CBR600RR and have decided to hang up the gloves and use 4 wheels for a while. I have been looking down the Lotus 7 replica route at the moment because they are nice and quick and cheap to run.
Then today i was having a chat with a customer today and he said that he had bought a Chimaera and was loving it. So had a look through the classifieds on here and quite fancy the look. Now what i want to know it what are they like and what is it going to cost me to run. It would be used at weekend only and sunny days, possible track but rare, just a weekend toy. Budget of about £8k max.
What is the best one to buy and why?
What are the running costs?
All i have heard about TVR's is that they go wrong, i want to buy this car and use it not spending money on it putting it through the garage all the time.
Cheers

Personally I don't think 8k is enough for what you want but others may disagree especially if you're able and willing to do a certain amount of maintenance yourself.
Why don't you consider a slower bike rather than giving up completely? I rode Johnny Rocket bikes for the best part of 20 years and have as much fun on my current steed as I did on the Yamonakis and certainly use it more. Riding pleasure is directly related to the number of times you can fully open the throttle and with modern Japs in particular it is becoming almost impossible to ride them to their full capability on the road.

This is a topic I very much doubt you will see appear on many other sportscar chatting sites
