Urgent Help Needed....
Discussion
I'm part-exing my chim tomorrow and she seems to have taken the huff with me.
The car wouldn't start last night, turned over very slowly but didnt catch. So I connected it up to a mates car to jump start. As i was connecting the jump leads I got the leads mixed up
I briefly touched the leads got a few sparks and then connected them the right way. Crossed fingers, thumbs, arms, legs you name it, I crossed it. Anyway she started first time no problems...however:
- The fuel gauge needle has gone off the scale past the full mark. The warning light still works as I only had a half tank left and it lit up as i was going around corners. I've checked the connections to the sender unit and they look ok.
- The doors have locked them selves and wont open. I havent been able to use the alarm to open the doors for a while. I've been using the key to activate the central locking. However since last night this has stopped working too.
Any ideas? I'm going to check all the fuses tonight see if i've popped some.
Thanks
Pete

Very common after a flat battery for the alarm to misbehave. Just disconnet the earth on the battery for about 5 secs, connect back up and hey presto alarm will reset and you *may* find all the problems disappear. Had to do this again yesterday after leaving my headlights on *wups*
The other thing to check is the door switches - doors wont lock properly if the switch isnt making contact. if you open the door then push the switch in by hand you should hear a clunk from the solenoid indicating the swith is working. Check that the switch is being fully closed by the door - best way os to stick something on the door (say a self adhesive pad) to help the switch depress fully.
Godd luck !
