Hi all,

Some of you may have seen me 'watering the sheep' along the way with Matt (yellow Cerb) at the Chimfest!

Anyway Wildfire has pretty much convinced me that I can afford a Chimaera, and after much thought im thinking what the hell - im young so I should go for it! So i've started looking around at various ads to get an idea of prices, things to look for etc. Whilst doing this I have noticed a few with the Tuscan light conversion and I think they look pretty awesome.. Are there a lot of these around? Also out of interest how much does this conversion cost?

Thanks,

Nick

I would imagine a lot cheaper to buy ready done, must admit some look better than others,i suppose if you was having a repaint that would be the time to do,dont think its cheap though.

I do like them as well - from a few threads (not personal knowledge) I have seen £1,300+VAT banded around. There is also a lot of conversation around whether it adds or detracts from used values as well therefore almost certainly cheaper to find one already completed if you can.

If I've not misunderstood, the Tuscan conversion is a whole front end, not just lights - there's a purple one trying to flog itself on eBay (or was recently) that featured on here several times.

Various other versions of lights are about ("Speed6", T350 etc) but I agree with advocates of "leave it original" - diff'rent strokes etc.

Agree - for some reason the Tuscan lights seem to sit very uneasy with the rest of the car in the pictures I've seen, making it look higher and more angular at the front.
Most advertised examples I've come across definitely were at the lower end of the price range for year/spec/color, which should say something about the desirability of such conversions. Mind you, that's good news if you are in the market and keen on the looks...

Hi Nick,

Not exactly Tuscan lights, but I had the Speed 12 headlight conversion done on mine by Webbs in Bristol and absolutely love it. They do a front end re-spray at the same time. I know this is a red rag to the bulls, and I totally repsect those who want to maintain the car as original, but in my opinion the original headlights are the only things that really date the car and it was nice to get them changed.

I may have to (very, very reluctantly) sell mine at the end of the summer (late September or October). PM me if you're interested. Its got a nice shiny Leven dash as well.

I like 'em with and without, but decided to have mine done to bring it up to date a little. It does not need a complete front end just pre-fab pods that are bended in place. As I know it there are two versions, the 'Speed 6' which is three lights, and the 'speed 12' which is four lights.

I totally understand everyones argument for keeping it looking stock but I do agree with gce that the lights are the only thing that makes it look dated... With just the light conversion (not the whole tuscan front end as it looks plain wrong!), I think it brings the Chim bang up to date and looks better than many of the new model tvrs - example: click. Resale is another question though!

I hope that was a long term purchase, as it seems no-one actually buys converted cars, and its resale value will be zero. Apparently.

No, hang on, you just bought the car in that condition? It was already converted, and you LIKED it? confused You probably got £2000 knocked of the asking price because it was molested, yeah?
