Have you tried the classifieds under parts/plates ? I know that PH'er 'STERRY' does polished aluminium oil filler caps etc .. If you see the advert you will see that it says "OTHER ITEMS MACHINED TO ORDER, PLEASE REFER TO SAMPLE PHOTOS" not sure though but might be work asking ??

The petrol cap is a bit more complex than an oil cap- there's a sprung seal within it.

Although you could probably do something clever/similar with a normal cap and a rubber seal inside cut to fit, I don't know if there is some legal/MOT requirement for it.

I'd try a dealer or breaker.

You might get a used original one from Bell Hill Garage or Douglas Valley Breakers.

Where do you put the petrol cap in order to lose it?

I've always put it beside the nozzle, on the bodywork inside the boot. Cant understand why one would place it anywhere else
