Mark Adams Chip ????
Discussion
I did it and was pleased... only reason I did was because I switched motors from a 400 to a 4.6 and did a few other mods that would have resulted in lean fuelling without attention. Told Mark what I wanted, the chip arrived and it's run nicely since installation; so nicely, I never went the next step with the rolling road session that is normally recommended. Whether you would/could improve an otherwise standard set-up so as to justify the cost is another matter, but if you're modding and want to keep the Lucas ECU, it's pretty much hobson's choice as far as I know (maybe TVR Power do an alternative?)
Let's face it - if you don't change anything then there is very little benefit of 're-chipping' but significant changes can change the fueling needs of the engine.
I think many people have a problem to start with and hence why they think a new chip will solve all but this has to be fixed before a new chip and Rolling road re-mapp can take place.
I've always found Mark's work to be excellent but would stress it you have a std car then there is little to gain.

To add to the debate I had my standard 4.0l re chipped by Mark Adams. Prior to the mods it was pulling about 20-30 bhp less then the final figure of 228 bhp (at 5655 rpm) /235 lb ft (at 4000 rpm). In part this was because my 'rev limiter' (for want of a better word) kicked in too early and moving this up past 6,000 let the engine fly. I've had a 4.0l before this one and the old one didn't feel as strong at the top end nor as flexible through the rev range.
So if there are any fueling/electrical/other probs a session with Mark would be money well spent.
And I'd agree it was well worth the visit.

If the Mark Adams chip can be applied to a box standard 1994 430 Chimaera and cure my intermittent cutting out problem and slight hesitance low down the rev range and also slightly increase MPG and BHP then it’s a winner in my book.
Anyone have any of the above problems which were cured by the MA chip ??
Still waiting on Paul from Austec phoning me back.
