Im off to the BNG in the morning and looking forward to it! However on return my annual service is due, and i supply free issue to my mechanic, antifreeze etc. I intend to mix coolant to give around -20c protection, but need to know capacity of system, any offers or advice please?

Everthing I read says 12 litres,
thing is it can be difficult to fully drain the system, when I changed mine got about 9 or so litres in (Griff 500 with expansion tank).

Couple of gallons, roughly. Don't think you need to know more accurately than that. 20% is quite weak though, unless you have huge overheating problems I'd go to 30% or more. The anti-freeze effect isn't what's important, you hardly need any anti-freeze at all to prevent freezing damage, the important thing is the corrosion inhibitors which must be kept up to strength (and renewed periodically).

The corrosion inhibitors are part of the antifreeze mix. The corrosion inhibitors get 'used up' over time so you need to start with a strong enough mixture to ensure that by the time you get round to replacing the coolant next time, it is still strong enough. Somewhere in the region of 30-50% is ample assuming you're replacing the coolant every couple of years.
