Don't know if this is true but I was told that Lucas had gone under, hence the reason most places I tried could only get the crap intermotor equivalent. Finally found a proper Lucas part at a small motor factors.

Have you tested the "failed" units? It may be the problem is elsewhere - perhaps a poor connection or wiring fault. If the units are definitely failing that quickly then the supplier should sort it out.

.

i havent tested the failed units but i have checked the wiring and connection and they seem fine . i gave the car a full service last month as a treat (plugs, leads, cap, plug extentions.etc) to see if she would run smoother and it didnt make a difference , so i changed the sensor a week later and it was a lot smoother at low revs ( around the 1500 mark).

but it now seems too have gone back to its old self.

for the price of a lucas part if i can get one its got to be worth a try.

Well I can sympathise with the logic, but I'd have said for the sake of thirty seconds with a multimeter it's be worth checking whether the thing you assume has failed, has actually failed.
