Noticed one of mine is split when fitting some new calipers earlier... are they a generic part or order from a specialist? Bloody annoying after just having an alignment job done rolleyes

no problem about your wheel alignment, just count of the track rod end turns as you remove it that way your settings are untouched, the gaiter, take to your local motor factors they should be able to match up,looks like sierra or similar.

Changed one of mine recently, went to a motor factor I know and worked my way along the shelves until I found something that would do. Obviously it was one of the last boxes on the shelf, originally for a Volvo 240 variant.

I got one replaced recently - the original TVR one was too wide and rubbed intelf apart on the chassis grumpy The replacement was just some generic off-the-shelf one that fitted perfectly.

Ok, just to update this, after spending a happy hour with the local friendly motor factor, Quinton Hazell QG2300 seemed as close as we were going to get (nope, sorry, no idea what it's supposed to be for... had got to the stage of just opening all the boxes to compare rather than looking at the book, saying 'I wonder...' Bit tighter on the blunt end and accordingly a tad fiddly to fit but they aren't going anywhere and are the same length to within a gnat's nadger.

Now, before I undid the track-rod ends, I measured the distance from first thread to the locknut face with some verniers and have reinstalled as near as I can to that measurement.... whaddya recon so far as alignment is concerned? Any chance of it being 'right'
