No fuel pump noise?
Discussion
Hello again folks, i recently had a new alarm fitted to the p+j, which worked for a couple of days, then had to have a new live feed put in,as the other one was braking down intermittently. Any way i went to the car yesterday morning and the alarm was working fine but when i tried to start, it began to catch but then died, then i turned it over again and there was just a turning over sound. when i killed the ignition and put it onto position 2 there was no noise from the fuel pump as you would normally expect. My question is A) is this likely to be fuel pump / pump relay or B) as the alarm was twiddled with last week could it be something to do with the immobilser?
Ah the sound of the fuel pump when you turn the ignition - such a heartwarming note.
I suspect it is something to do with the alarm/immobiliser being messed with recently.
I understand the pump themselves are pretty bullet proof but I had a problem where there was no noise from the fuel pump. I disconnected the wires connected to the pump and found they were extreemly corroded. So I gave them a serious clean including the pump and have never had a problem since.
Worth lookin at - plus its quick and doesn't cost anything.
All the best.
