I want some better (grippier!) seats for the Chim (see P.28 of this month's "Sprint" for a rough idea why - yes, that's me...) I can't find a proper racing seat that I can get into comfortably (due to my being circumferentially enhanced) and be sure it'll fit into the car. I seem to recall that the final few Chimaeras had Cerbera/Tuscan seats in them? These look to be considerably better bolstered than the standard Chim seats, and I'm reasonably sure I can get into them (and it's easy enough to pester someone to sit in their car to try.)

Are they higher than a standard Chim seat? I'm already marginal on headroom with a crash helmet on (I'm 6'3" so I cannot afford to be seated any higher than I already am. I don't need adjustment, so they can be bolted direct to the floor - is that possible?

Or can someone recommend a seat suitable for those of us with physiques honed on years of beer and pies? Or a retailer who has a good range to go and try?

Finally, has anyone bought seats from Bell Hill Garage? What kind of prices do they charge? Or can you recommend another breakers who might have Cerbera/Tuscan seats? Or (eek!) what would they cost from the factory?

All (polite) suggestions gratefully accepted.

Mate,

see my question headed 'Cerbera seats in a Cimeara' from Friday / Saturday - there are avantages and, inevitably, disadvantages, from fitting the seats. With your height, I guess you would look like Jeremy Clarkson did in that Daihatsu Copen......

I haven't read the article, but I'm just wondering if you've tried those "CG Lock" things which make the seat-belt tighter?

I've heard some good things about them on PH as well as elsewhere.

I've got full harnesses ...

But I still slide about on the seat.

Might be worth looking at earlier seats from S's or wedge's. In my view they were a lot better at holding you in than chim/griff seats.

I have a set of seats out of a Subaru 555 ltd edish, i am looking at recovering them and fitting those in, they are only about an inch wider so shaving a bit off the bolster, quite cerberish in appearance. And they only cost me a set of discs.

Would not recommend the Tuscan seats as although
the side bolsters look the part they snap the weld
at the bottom of them if you look at them ?

fitted tuscan seats to my chim but height is about 1 1/2 higher and rear movement restricted by rear seat shaping. I might try to mod during winter to improve . I am 5ft 11" and seats are fine and much more comfortable especially on long journeys
