I wouldn't have any worries personally about that mileage, given that it has a FSH. I'd ask if it had been garaged all the time and I'd check the chassis condition above all.

Good luck!

Sounds like a bit of a change - but the right one!

If it is any help as a comparison I bought a 1998 S Chimaera 500 from Fernhurst TVR (saw it through their advert on pistonheads) about 6 weeks ago. That cost me around £15K and was on 35,000 miles (it's approaching 37,000 already!).

Higher mileage on its own is not a problem - as everyone always says buy on condition and buy the best car you can afford - look at and drive a few so you can tell the good cars from the less good - and good luck!

just because you buy from a dealer doesn't mean you buy a good car, there is plenty of tat at the dealers currently.....buy only on condition would be my advice

My concern on the mileage is that of clutch and cam not sure how long these run for, "rough life expectency".

High millage can be good as a gar that spends its days in a garage has more chance of going wrong. I'm finding my car is spending more time at Racing Green now I no longer drive it every day...

For £14500 I'd expect this to be stunning in every way.

60K miles wouldn't bother me but the condition of the chassis would. Get it up on a four poster and have a look.

What sort of warranty are they offering? Fix it if it goes wrong or a pain in the arse insurance policy?

14500 for an S plate with that many miles on sounds a lot to me.Remember the car is 8 yrs old I don't think it would be unreasonable to expect some wear and tear like shocks, cam, clutch. Yes there will be cars with higher mileage which haven't needed any of these but equally don't be too shocked if a car you look at has had them done. Look in the private sales and I reckon the car would be 11000(not asking price but what it would sell for). Like any thing you pay your money etc...etc
Edited to add changed my mind 10500 if lucky

As has been said take a good look at the chassis out-riggers and the points where it meets the wheel arches front and rear. Mud and grit gathers in the crevices here and if it stays there damp will rot the chassis after 3 or 4 years. Look to see if it has been waxoyled etc.

Sounds a bit pricey to me, especially as we are running up to winter... and prices tend to fall dramatically.

I'd agree with the previous comments and add don't let your heart rule your head.

Way ott imho. I paid that for my 97 R 450 18 months ago - and she only had 26k on the clock, full history including a massive A4 binder of bills and documents. She was (still is !) in A1 condition very nicely looked after. Even then I thought at the time I had paid over the odds but you dont find a minter every day.....

I've been dealing with SSCARCO in the last few weeks and have found them to be very good. If the one at Harrogate is THE one for you fair enough but honestly mate the price is way high
