I used to have 1998 Chimaera and am thinking of returning to the fold. I have seen reference to a 2001 facelift model being advertised as a big improvement
What are the differences other than faired headlights and do they drive better?

Different seats, sometimes 16 inch front wheels... hidden boot hinge (as per the '99 car), faired in lamps... seen one or two with a different dash, but that's about it.

Seats from a Cerb and faired in lights. Supposedly suspension changes as well (although not 100% sure). Everyone who drove mine commented that it felt a lot better to earlier ones. Might be worth trying one out though.

And as I found out at the Chim Fest, the later Chim's boot lids open till they are verticle!!!!
Should of seen how easy it was getting the roof in & out.

That was the '99 revision... easily spotted by the lack oh hinges visible when the boot is closed.

When the missus and I went touring in both cars, we had the Chim roof AND the Griff roof in the Chim's boot as it was just so much easier... hehe

Rear number plates and boot lip have varied with time...

I've recently returned to the fold....i went for another Chim 400...i wanted to get a bigger engine, but couldn't afford the outlay. At the end of the day, it was better to have a cheaper model than no model at all
