After some advice on wiper motors. The wipers on my 97 400 are to say the least, crap! On anything other than a soaking wet screen the wipers really don't like to travel across the screen and will often stick half way across on the return, meaning I have to lean out and help them back.
What car is the motor originally from or is it possible to find one that has more power to avoid the sticking blades?

It might be that the electrical connectors to the motor are corroded hence you're not getting full power out of the motor, it might be worth disonnecting the motor from the loom and cleaning any corrosion off the terminals, before liberally apply vaseline to keep water out in future.

That's where I'd put my money. I bet the motor is stuggling along on ~8 volts just like the windows and starter solenoid. Does David Beer do a fix to beef up the wiring?

Cheers guys, will check the connections over the weekend.
Passenger door button has also stopped working so have that to do as well (hoping it's the solenoid as I've just bought one) lots to keep me busy then!

Can't tell if your '97 is facelift or not (but prob same applies!) I found squirting liberal amounts of WD40 behind the top of the door mirror glass, whilst repeatedly pressing the button underneath got my door button working well after a couple of minutes. Previous owner suggested this be done as a matter of maintenance every winter.......HTH

Get some silicone lubricant spray (from hardware shops!!) and coat the rubber of the wipers. They'll look like new and perform much better.

While my wipers aren't as bad as yours, it's made an enormous difference. And all for a couple of pounds. It sounds like you have a more major problem going on, but it can only help.

It's excellent for all rubber, so things like the roof and door surrounds as well.
