I reached the big 49,999 and everything has stuck fast.
Had the same problem at 39,999 but cured itself after a while.
Seems to be taking longer this time. What is the wisdom
to make it start working again ? Thanks for any tips

The joyes of Chimaera clocks, mine is currently stuck between 099999 and 100000, just keep tapping the glass face between 60 and 85 MPH and it should clear itself. Mine is slowly working its way over.

I have heard, variously:

"Switch a few times between forward and reverse in quick succession"
"Drive it in reverse very fast"
"Leave it and it will come right by itself"
"I've never seen one come right by itself"
"Book it in with us, but it's a five week turnaround"
"You lucky bastard, I'd pay to have that"

What helped in my case was pressing the reset button and release it as quick as possible, so to let it jump back to it's normal position. Preferably do this at "some" speed (forward!).

Good luck,
Peter.

May i suggest all the suggestions except the "Drive very fast in reverse"

I have a sneaky feeling buying a new speedo and resetting the mileage (or having your one fixed) would be a better option (for you and the car) than emulating a Stunt Driver...

Perhaps the 'drive very fast in reverse' suggestion leads to the odomoter being jolted into working again by the inevitable car smash.

For the record, I have only tried the 'come right by itself' option so far.

Min stuck at 39999 - pressing reset at speed a lot of times finally sorted it. Each time I pressed the reset the lat digit moved along a fraction. after a few days it finally moved over and no its working fine. Roll on 50k !

Stuck on 79999 for a while, did a search on here and tried the easiest suggestion and drove along the Motorway at 70mph with my wife continuously tapping the glass with the end of her hair brush (part no: Boots own brand, TVR speedometer correction tool) And as if by magic it slowly clicked over to 80k. smash smash

Oh *** what have we Chimaera owners done to upset you, what must me do to be released from this plague of the stuck odometers.

Oh please forgive us for driving to slow, for not revving the engines load enough............etc etc etc etc..

Will try that hair brush, my knuckles are getting sore!!!!!!!!!

Almost over to the 100000, had a new one at 20000 so hope to get it all the way round to the 200000 some day, Shell prices permitting!!!!!!!

We had trouble at every x9999 starting with 19999. Eventually had to fit a new speedo at 49,999 (and a bit).

I'll try tapping then as this seems the most recommended.
Funny how it affects so many of us. Are they TVR made or
a bought in component ? If TVR funded the development
I'd understand but hard to imagine if a third party -
or maybe not if the invoice was not paid !

Mine sticks at the 999 mark but if i put it in reverse to get up our steep drive it starts working. It might just be the grounding out going backwards that helps.
I can hire out the drive for very reasonable rates.
