My wife and daughter have both remarked on a tendency to submarine under moderate braking. Has anyone else found this and is there a simple solution?

I have read that TVR can supply a kit to raise the seat. Has anyone tried this?

I was also wondering if just raisng the front of the seat by a half inch would help? I presume it is simple enough to do.

I'm a bit puzzled by this as Steve Heath states that the seats are designed specifically to prevent submarining and my passenger seat appears to have had very little use.

Any thoughts?

I assume you have a very short wife. The shorter footwell on the passenger side give the passenger a solid footrest that would prevent submarining. IMO raising the seat would result in the average guy no longer being able to fit when the lid is on.

You could fit a CG-Lock to 'fix' the lap strap, this would certainly eliminate bum movement in any direction.

If you have the seat forward, the lap straps would be pulling backwards rather than downwards, perhaps this is contributing to the problem. Does the passenger seat feel broadly similar to the driver's seat? If so I guess it's unlikely that the seat itself has failed.

Not had this problem.
The only problem my wife has is seeing over the wiperblades.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions guys.

My wife is short but my daughter isn't - her feet certainly reach the battery box cover.

As regards headroom this is something I hadn't thought of - I hardly ever have the roof up anyway! I think I read somewhere that the passenger seat is lower than the driver's. It certainly looks like it. Not by much - probably half an inch or so. Presumably the TVR kit, if it exists, would just bring the passenger seat to the same height as the driver?? So headroom then should not be an issue.

Has anyone got one of these kits fitted? If so what's the verdict?

I'd be very interested in hearing too whether there is such a kit. For some akward reason the passenger seat of my chimaera is set lower than the driving seat... ?????

I am changing my seats at the moment as find them totaly unsupportive and slide around to much, even when I have the harnesses fitted for track days.
When I took the seats out I was amazed to find that the high difference between the driver and passenger seat is gained by adding a pile of washers !!!!!!!
Would have thought TVR could have added a form to floor mould instead of this heath-robinson botch job. If you are going to do anything I would also advise adding a large plate on the under side of the car to spread some of load.
