My service engineer advised me to source a new belt from an O/E Tvr dealer. He told me to mention the fact its got aircon, he said a rover dealer wont recognise the numbers,Are belts for Chimaeras different depending on engine size & aircon?

just fitted a new belt to my 4.0 with power steering, purchased the belt from my local spares shop, it was made by QH
and the code was QBR71850, 7 stands for the number of ribs and 1850 is the length, cost £11
if you look on the belt fitted on your car you should be able to read the numbers and code on the outside of the belt it may be longer due to the air-con.

It's probably the same as mine, John. Land Rover dealer will be able to supply (and it will be better than a pattern belt). Land Rover part number is ERR5017.

I was lead to believe that no belts for Land Rovers will fit the TVRs, although the TVR belts are often branded as 'Land Rover'.

Either way you should be able to get the details (length and number of grooves) from your old one.

providing you give a motor factor the dimensions off the belt 1024 pk7 for example, denotes its 1024 millimetres and as 7 ribs/grooves,if you go to a good motor factor you will get a Gates / Contetec / unipart or similar it does not mean you will get an inferior part, failing that just pay dealer prices but you will normally see its made by someone as above, very few motor manafacturers make things like this themselves.

Well the latest from the land Rover agent is that ERR 5017 no longer exists, which is what is currently on my car.I would prefer a genuine LR part.Has anybody bought one from LR recently?

BTW avoiding TVR isn't always the cheapest way to go. I got mine from the dealer and it wasn't expensive.

Found one AT HHC,£19,Part ERR 5017 is the longer belt designed for aircon cars, due to the extra pulley, thanks Andy.
