I have a scratch on the bonnet just below the badge, I have had a quote, but its just to spray the bonnet. Im worried if I get this done there might be a paint mismatch with the wings, so do I need to have the whole front done to avoid any mismatch ?(It probably will be done via the insurance)

How do you mean a scratch? You may be able to just flat it out and repolish.

A lot depends on the type of paint finish and how old it is as UV light can bleach some paints over time, so a touch up might show against it. You can try touching in plain colours and then carefully blent it in with 1200 grade wet and dry paper once its dry, followed by T cut or the like. Metalics can be hard to match due to the metal flake lying in a different direction to the origional application, so the "glint" appears different. A decent paint shop can blend metalics in over an area so the eye does not notice, followed by a clear coat to blend it all in. You cant ever effectively hand touch in metalics with a brush. I have tried blending in TVR metalics over a small area with an air brush, but it was a poor match. If in doubt take it to the professionals, as its easy to make it worse.

i think a scratch underested the facts, its more of a 1 inch gouge and about 1/4 inch wide and about 2mm deep. The front end was respayed at the end of last year, so the the original faint is still fresh looking, do you think I should for a front end respray or just the bonnet, also still not sure where to get this work done.

Thanks..

I have had a job done with Chips Away and it's sterling. The only problem is that they cannot mix some colors like e.g. pearl effect.

So if he can match the color, I'd definitely give it a go.

judge I'm a chipsaway franchisee and have been doing the job for 3 years now..... Trust me you wouldn't want a bonnet repair done on your car(Stone chips are fine) It's very hard to loose the the edges of the lacquer on a flat surface i.e. Bonnet/ Boot etc, so he was right to turn rhe job down.

As for matching TVR colours we are able to match some [pearls inc) but not all. I Have a starmist Blue Chimaera and I Can't mix the paint because TVR will not release the the formula.
