I'm thinking of saying goodbye to my Chimaera. Just wondering, what it is worth and the easiest way to sell it.

98 Chimaera
Leven bits
Full leather
Full service history
Power steering
4 new tyres
Very good condition
46K miles.

Cheers.

Personally I'd have said about 12-12.5k, its a nice colour combo etc which helps sell quickly.
I'm sure doom mongers will be along soon saying they bought a 2001 for pennies etc so your 98 is worth no-where near what I said.
Hard to value them though at the moment as Chim prices really have suffered with factory problems, running costs etc.
TBH it all depends how desperate you are to sell - another reason why prices appear to be tumbling as people want a quick sale so accept a low price.

Dav,

has it had a cam or clutch - seems they are a little vulnerable in these areas. Do you have any pics?

No it hasn't had a new clutch or cam shaft. I've not got any pics on me - at work - other than the one in my profile. If you'd like, I'll dig some out from home tonight.

Cheers.

Not a doom monger but a realist. To sell to a garage (not trade in) £9k. Sell privately anything from £10k upwards depending on the day, lucky underpants, right place right time etc. Like has been said it all depends if you REALLY want to sell it, because no matter what you drive pitch it at the right price and it will sell. if it was mine i'd try £11300 and see

I paid £12000 for my 500 and it was a private sale. Its a 96 with 50k on the clock. It had a full rebuild by tvr at 44,000 miles. Its also in mint condition. I would say if yours in vgc its probably worth around 12.5k at this time of year.

Normally I'm the doom monger lol.. however I think zippee is about bang on the money with 12k. The only problem is it is now the wrong time of year to sell.

Does that make it the right time of year to buy? Off to raise a loan...idea

Yep.. September/October time many people have had their summer fun and don't fancy the long lay up/garage over the winter so bung them on the market now. Another time seems to be just after christmas in Jan/Feb time, I guess its those who have run a bit short of cash over the festive period, forgotten the heady fun days of the summer in the Tiv, and want to realise some funds..?

Cheers,
Matt.

I sold my 500 97 FSH great condition but previously cat D for 8100 on ebay a couple of months ago. I was hoping for a little more but they usually say knock off 25% for being on the register so that would have made it 10 grand. Good luck with your sale
