I've started thinking that there's a lot more breathy noise coming from the front, particularly noticeable on accelerating in first and second. No loss of performance detectable. Can't detect any exhaust leak and wondering if I'm imagining it. Nothing abnormal detected in the oil and no loss of coolant. Started thinking about an exhaust manifold leak - anyone had any experience of this care to tell me how I might complete the diagnosis?

Thanks in advance,
Hutch

I've got, what I think, is a manifold leak on the nearside at the moment. The noise sounds like badly ticking tappets though (just to add to the noise of my badly ticking tappets!)

I have the same noise. I only noticed it after i had fixed my leaking manifold gasket! I kind of like this noise anyway. Chances are it's down to usual induction vacuum noise, but your ears have learnt to hear other noises above the exhaust. It's an exclusive talent accustomed to TVR owners only.

I think (hope) you're spot on. Maybe I can get a few v8 cogniscenti to use their at VW on Sunday to confirm all's OK.

Definitely not a clicky noise so I'll cross a blown exhaust manifold gasket off the list. Thanks
