Just never keep the roof on

Yep I think you will have no problems at that: Plenty of space in my [little] experience!

Dave.

I'm 6'5" and it's fine. The bar of the folding roof can get you if you aren't careful, but otherwise it's fine.

The Chimaera is the only sports car I can feel comfortable in, so far.

Hi,
Ok I'm not fat but I am tall. I tried (but never drove) a Cerb and once I was sat in it I had to tilt my head slightly and it was still in firm contact with the roof.
Sooo... I bought a Chim instead not just because you can drive it without the lid on but even with the lid on there's enough headroom for me!
Hope that helps ya.

I'm 6'5" (although you have 5 stone on me) and no problems at all. The Chim's the only car I've owned that's been truly comfortable...

As you say, the passenger side is a LOT smaller!!

Another reason the gf is only allowed to drive in emergencies!

Just been reading another post regarding seat height which may be of interest to you taller people. Quite a few Chimaeras have had the drivers seat raised for shorter people by placing spacers (pile of washers!) between the floor and the seat rail. If the drivers seat looks higher than the passengers, then it may have been lifted in the past. Quite and easy spanner job to take the seat bolts out and drop it down to it's original position.

Also don't forget that all Chimaera's have adjustable brake and clutch pedals which can be wound in or out to suit the driver. Leven do a kit which gives even more adjustment, and also includes an adjustable accelerator pedal. If these are fitted, and adjusted to their shortest position, along with spacers under the seat, you may struggle to fit at first?

Happy hunting

Paul

One of my mates is 6'5" and can fit into the passenger seat despite it being tighter for space. He hasn't driven it yet though... he's more into motorbikes than cars, luckily!

Paul, the drivers seat on my 98 has a factory spacer at the front to pick the front of the seat up which is not present of the passenger side, its not just a pile of washers. It is "bolt through" though so can be removed easily enough.

Cheers,
Matt

Its funny,I sat in a Chimaera yesterday and whereas I found the height not an issue(I'm 6ft 2 and plenty left above me) I found that my right leg was touching the door panel. I thought it might be a snug fit but it was a little too close for my liking. You may think that I'm a big chap but I'm a skinny lad !!

My '97 didn't seem to have any of these spacers sadly- I was hoping to drop the seat a bit. Even so, it's the back of the seat I would prefer to drop, not just the front.

Re the adjustable pedals. I recall only two of the pedals are adjustable, and even then, the clutch only moves a short distance before it gets wedged against the wall.

I have a good driving position now, but I know if there was a bump, I would have a serious bruise from the hard bit of the folding roof.

You're right about the standard pedals where only the clutch and brake have limited adjustment, but the Leven ones have a much longer thread to bring them further forward, and they also do a kit to bring the accelerator forward to match.

Also, the threaded bars are not located in the centre of the pedal, so if you wind them by 180 deg it will move them closer together / further apart / or away from the tunnel to suit etc.
