Definative wheel offset wanted
Discussion
As I'm resigned to the fact I can't afford to change cars, and to be honest I can't think of anything I really fancy thats remotely within budget I'm going to update the tried and trusted Chimaera with a bit of bling.
I fancy 17's on the front and 18's on the back.
Now the thing is if I walk into my local wheel emporium and say 'it's to fit a TVR' I'm going to get a blank look, I roughly know what wheel I want but I need a definative answer as to PCD/Offset, so what should it be for a 94 Chimaera?

I recently removed my standard wheels and they were:
Front 7J * 15 ET25
Rear 7.5J * 16 ET33
The stud pattern is 4 * 108
You can have a play with what works on here: www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp
I have just gone for 17 * 7.5J with an effective offset of 28 all round and I am really pleased with them although marginally less on the front would have been better IMO.
You can see how they look in my profile...

I found wheel suppliers very unhelpful at the mention of TVR. Tied myself in knots about offsets. When you consider that TVR fitted 16" estorils to the last 100 Griff's, I doubt very much that they had 100 wheels made with different offsets just for these cars. Also, when I had mine set up at a very reputable garage specialising in suspension set-ups, they said it was splitting hairs and they have raced with much success cars with compromised offsets. You may want to run with 2-3mm spacers at front at worst. I'd rather not. Just trying to help.

I recall reading somewhere that if you increased the road wheel diameter, it was necessary to fit 'stops' on the steering rack to prevent fouling resulting an increase in turning circle.
Is that really true?
Depends on many things, like the tyre profile being used (overall circumference may be the same or less with lower profile tyres), the width, and the offset. Is that really true?
