My poor old knees have been getting cold on the freezing weather we have been having. even with the heater on full, it isn't pleasant.

No, it isn't the fresh air vent in the right hand side of the footwell, which is firmly closed.

The cold air is coming in behind the plastic steering column cover, around the steering column itself.

I popped into Harrogate HC but they haven't any ideas.

The right hand dash vent doesn't seem to be working at all - might this be related?

It's a '95 4L.

Thanks

Richard

If any of the air vents are not working maybe the pipe has pulled off the back of the vent or has snapped somewhere. If that were the case the pipe would be chucking out air regardless of whether the vent is open or closed.

I have a late 97 Chim, I have noticed a lot of cold air blows in at the bottom of each door.

thanks for the thoughts.

If that's the case, wouldn't it be spilling hot air when the heater is on? Or is the right hand dash vent always cold air?

Unfortunately I don't think I can chack that without removing the entire dash....

I have the same thing. The cold air on mine (99V) comes from the point that the carpet from the footwell joins the door seam. I presume that if the carpet is stuck properly at this seam, the cold air will escape through the top of the carpet up behind the dash.
I do not have a vent in this area but if I prod the carpet, there is a hole behind the carpet. I have left the carpet alone, as in the hot weather it is a very effective form of cool air. Maby it was an optional extra
The vent at the RHS of mine does not have the same volume of air coming out as the others.

Nice one, ribol.

I had a closer look. it appears that the pipe has come off the back of the right-hand dash vent. tracing it through, the source is the same as the fresh air vent in the footwell. I have simply blocked it up (I couldn't get access to reattach it)

trust TVR to have different sources for vents on different sides of the car.
