I Am about to purchase new rears and "My Tyres" have very good prices on both of these tyres, coming in at £159.60 for 2 Dunlop sp9000'S, and £148.60 for the Toyo Proxes T1-R Inclusive of VAT and delivery.
I currently have SO3's on the front and would appreciate any advice from someone who has had experience of these mixes. As far as the website tyre test is concerned, the Toyo's although cheaper than the Dunlops appear to score higher in all catorgories including Grip, wear and noise, so would welcome any recommendations.

I bought 2 sp900's for £58 each which isn't to bad but when I checked it was some 30 quid more then the last pair I bought a few months earlier and from the same place! My sizes were 205/55/16. Your prices are a fair bit higher, are you running bigger boots?

I can't say I'm overly impressed with the tyres, maybe I expected to much.

Got that the wrong way round. The original pair were £58 each, the latter pair were over £70 each. Guess I got the wrong rep on the latter occassion.

The prices I have are for the rears which are standard size of 225/50/ZR16. They work out at £79.80 each for the Dunlops and £74.30 for the Toyo's which includes delivery. I have had a price locally of £7.50 each for fitting and balancing.

Avoid sp-9000's if you are after performance. If you want longlife then they ok but they seem to be 'harder' and less grippy than others as a result.

I had a set of 205/16's on my Prelude and now have the 255/18's on the rear of bmw and I don't like them compared to the F1's and P'zeros I've tried before.

Also, the SP-9000's generate alot of tyre squeal when you get the back end out....seriously uncool...

Seconded. This is why they dissapointed me. They're hard as nails and very non sticky. They may be a good wet tyre but I thought I was buying a performance dry tyre. Obviously not. Yet on some forums people talk about them in a sporting manner. They squeal on roundabouts like I've got low pressure, except I haven't.

Do you find them good straight away or do they have to warm up first?

Thanks for you replies so far, I dont use the car for any track days, at best a little spirited driving on the twisty roads, what I really want to know is which of these two tyres would better match the S03's Fitted on the front.

From the choice of two, the Toyos for me everytime. Great tyre. I also really rate the Falken FK451 and 452. www.falkentyres.co.uk have some really good deals on the old 451s still.

I've got the toyo's all round and I've got no complaints, something to consider is the fronts won't be Z rated as Toyo only do V I think? still rated to 149mph but I mentioned it to my insurance broker to check they were happy.

Also, softer sidewalls on Toyos - bet on 25/28 psi instead of usual 22/24 to return to SO3 feel or you'll be driving on "Gello". Once pressures sorted, wet and dry preformance good - nice 'n' sticky. Reports of a good 100 mile scrub-in, but I didn't find this personally.

It's Vs for the front, Zs for the rear. One year on and the Toyos have been the best tyre I've ever used and the V-rating certainly hasn't caused any problems.

I think am in a minority of about 1 but I am running BF Goodrich G Force Profilers on the back of my Chim (with SO-3 on the front) and find them excellent (and about £65ish). I also have them on the Subaru and the Alfa now too

Can you get Eagle F1's to fit the back of the Chimaera (in either 225 or 245 width?). I've been really impressed with them on the front of mine, much more positive than the SO3's which came off...

I have got SP9000's on the back of mine and I quite like them. They don't seem hard to me, and seem grippy in the dry and wet, although they didn't for the first 500 miles or so. Although I do agree that they squeal a bit when pushing on in the corners. I had S02's before and would say they are at least as good as them in grip.
