Brand new forum member, wanting to buy first Chimaera, funds in place, just finding "The One", don't tell the missus!
Just wondering if anyone keeps their TVR in one of those outdoor carcoons? If so any good or just a gimmick? Very expensive to run, etc? Thoughts please to the novice!
PS the name is a nickname, nothing medical!!!!

If it is outside and say you only use it at the weekends then I can see no good reason not to put her under a cover (a breathable one though).

I bought the external version 4 years ago, as we did not have a garage back then. It worked extremely well, although a build up of snow did cause it to droop. Vital stats
Erect: less than 5 minutes.
Deflates in 5 minutes, best if there are 2 of you, as we tend to roll it up as we take it off the car & we always lifted over the fabric section of the roof. It came with a trickle charger for connection to car battery, which also keeps it inflated during short power cuts, and always left enough power to start the car.
Biggest disadvantage is that you unroll the cover back over the car to put it away; it has the potential to scratch the car if the car was mucky. As the external version is opaque, most louts assume it contains nothing worthy of vandalism. We had a traffic bollard chucked over the wall and it landed on the carcoon, car was undamaged. Importantly, if the car is put away wet, you leave a small vent unzipped for a day and the car is bone dry. When this vent is closed it just circulates the enclosed air through the carbon filters. When you unzipped it, the escaping air smelled of leather from the car and all the ali bits in the engine bay had lost the scum build up over a couple of months.

My Chim is now gone, but I kept the Carcoon, just in case I needed it, which is now unlikely. I would recommend 100%. If you are interested in mine, mail me through my profile.

Hello, I just purchased an outdoor cover from Covercraft. It has the Weathershield fabric. This should do the job when you have your Chimaera outside permanently.
