Hi just brought a 97 450 this week im over the moon with it. The best bit was after spending 10k on a car i found myself going around it with superglue making it all better again!!
I could do with some advice...on both doors i seem to have some trim missing i think?...where the vertical side of the door glass meets the vertical fold up roof (hard piece) ive got a gap of about half an inch...im wondering how this part stops water coming in?

Hi and a big welcome to you from all of us... I think we must all have a bit missing to want to become a TVR owner... don't have to be mad but it helps!
Firstly there should be a hard rubber plug on the top rear edge of the doors - these often fall off until you fix them permanently - (haven't found a dealer yet who can manage to fix these permanently) so get the missing pieces and fix them yourself. Secondly there should be a soft rubber tube going up the side of the hood and the window glass should close against this - again often go missing - if they are get some and again fix them yourself. Your are not alone - I've had to do this and I think many others have aswell.
You still wont be waterproof though as you should also have some floppy rubber (you be thinking I got a rubber fetish by now!) 'elephants' 'ears' which should droop down from the bottom of the soft rubber tube referred to above and the hard rubber plugs should close against the elephant ears... waterproof!
I'm sure will get get endless help from others on here very quickly.
Good luck and let the forum know how you get on... we could all benefit from your ingenuity in arriving at a 'fix'.
Regards, David.

Welcome. It is probably fair to say that there will always be something or other wrong with it.
However, the art or secret is knowing the difference between what can be ignored or lived with and what really needs to be fixed, and this isn't always obvious. This is why we have the forum. There will always be someone out there who knows the answer. thumbup

You may need to adjust the windows? Do they run up the to roof trim all the way along?

Try refitting the roof, if I don't get mine on square there is a gap drivers side that lets in water. Also, after I bought the car I had the drives window adjusted up, I think the door had dropped slightly.

The window should fit plush into the rubber of the roof panel. It can be necessary to push the bits of rubber about to get them to stay in place.. Sorry, I don't have a photo, our hood stays in the boot.

Hi... how did the seller explain the gap before you bought the car..?

(please tell me you thoroughly inspected the car before buying(especially underneath))

Cheers,
Matt.
