It's just that he says the Chimaera rear lights are upside down MKIII Fiesta units.
Well I have a Chimaera and a MKIII Fiesta and the lights are both the same way up.
Now I've had a close look at the Fiesta and I know I parked it quickly the other night but the wheels are still touching the ground, and the Chimaeras lights are the same way up as all the other Chimaeras I've seen.
So am I missing something?

It was an Australian Fiesta....

Could be right but if you are then you are the first to pick this up despite the number of reviewers that went through the book and the number of readers.

Thanks
I'll check and correct it.

IIRC some of the S series have upside down Escort Mk3 lights... but not all of them...

The MkIII Fiesta lights curve round the edge of the bodywork on the Ford, and would (I'm sure?) need to do the same on the TVR, albeit behind the perspex covers. Therefore, if they were turned upside down, they'd also have to be swapped over between left and right. Since the lights feature rear fog on one side and reverse on the other, the fog light would no longer be on the legal side if swapped, unless TVR resorted to using European lights, which would seem unlikely!

On the subject of the Escort lights on the S, mine are definitely the right way up, and I'd be surprised if any were used the other way up since the slight slant on the inside of the light would, I'd've thought, require the moudling of the rear bodywork to be changed. Then again, this is TVR we're talking out of course...

I'll get me anorak...

The Escort lights on my S3c were indeed upside down, because the Ford logo was... upside-down! Rich...

Ford even has the problem on its own cars - I noticed that two of the wheels on my Focus had been put on upside down when I returned it to Hertz yesterday - the logos were upside-down on them too....

Hmmm... right way up on mine.

On the basis that we're using the Escort as the benchmark (what a frightening thought!) as to what's the right way up, do the inner ends of your lights slope slightly outwards from top to bottom i.e. ...

If so, that matches the Escort i.e. right way up...

If not, I'd imagine that TVR must have had to have changed the GRP moulding to accomodate the shape of the lights being 'reversed'.

If it was 4 years ago then it's quite impressive that you remember which way up the Ford logos were! Or is that just sad?!

(Maybe I'm not in a very good position to accuse anyone else of being sad though ).

For whatever reason, mine has fog and reverse lights on both sides (and they're the right way up).

The one fog and one reversing light arrangement only applies to the Fiesta lights as used on the Chimaera. The Escort lights used on the S are symmetrical.

(I sound sadder with every post )
