Intermittent Cooling Problem Solved
Discussion
I just changed the thermostat in my 95 4.0 litre Chimaera which seems to have solved an intermittent cooling fault I've had for a while. Seems the offending part was opening partially but not enough to flow enough water to keep the engine temp down. The symptoms were a gradually increasing temperature when cruising though it could quickly get up to 100 degrees in traffic (Where of course I turned off the engine). Just thought it might help some other people out there with the same problems. Got a new 82 degree thermostat (This is the correct TVR part for the engine year) and now rock solid at 80 degrees, sorted! Cheap and easy to do as well just 2 bolts although it is easier to move the alternator at the same time as it makes quite a fiddly job easy.
