Does this seem a good price? And a couple of questions..
Discussion
Hello all, looked at a TVR Chim 500 today at a sports car dealer (not a TVR specialist).
It is on a P plate (97) with 53000 miles. It is cherry red in colour and the interior is light grey with the leven switchgear etc....
It is up for £11,495 and will come with 6 months warranty (up to £2000 per claim).
The bodywork has a few stonechips etc, and the engine bay could do with a clean.
The whhels are the normal Chim ones, not the Griff 500 style.
Does that price seem fair, as it is from a dealer?
Hope to test drive it Saturday and give it a better look over and test (Outriggers etc....)
Thanks
Lee

Price looks about right, and sounds a nice colour combination. Get the chassis checked as the cars of this age (like mine!) apparently had a different powder coating which was a little less forgiving than the older or newer stuff. Not a problem at all if it's been Waxoiled anually, but chassis rot is costly to sort. Also check the paint code, some of the lighter reds (Rosso Pearl i think) is prone to fading which means that even a few stone chips (and they all have them!) will need a full body respray to sort properly.
As said, it's a buyers market, so make sure you look at plenty.

I thought the estoril wheels were an option on the 400 and 450 but standard on the 500. Best check the V5 just to be sure its not been rebadged...
Just look at the lump under the bonnet...... But I had the same thought, without the 500 wheels, is it a 400 but marked wrongly by the dealer.... I can't see many people swapping the wheels back to a 400 when they have the 500..

Stupid question..other than it says 500, can you tell by looking? (I should know, I've seen enough of 'em!)

Only other thing ,I think, are purple rocker covers, which could also just have been powder coated to complete an illusion
Yep Griffs standard on 500 and the 400 stylee optional
