Time for a 'new' engine for my 4L Chim.

For me a 4.6L modestly tweaked is probably the ideal compromise for fast road use.

Any recommendations on a source - have looked at web sites of RPi, V8 Developments and others all of whom make an excellent presentation. However some personal experience/recommendation would be useful - I live in the North west.

Thanks

jeff

Have a V8D 4.6 in mine with H404 cam, the original 400 heads and have done the usual induction mods and an Adams chip... oh, and the exhaust is a bit freer flowing than before No regrets at all, heartily recommended.

i must admit pupp that engine size is nice with a few tasteful mods i bet that drives a treat too.i would def consider a 4.5/4.6 if i wanted to change, really got my eye on this bike throttle body set/up at the moment though,it would sound the mutts.

I got one out of a burnt Range for mine and completely rebuilt it with big valves, cam, new bearings, etc etc. 300ish brake anyway, Real Steal are the most reasonable on parts.

Cheers... it does go well. Liked this unit as it's cross-bolted, has top-hat liners and the larger crank bearings so should prove a solid basis for future enhancement right up to forced induction. Next step is to get rid of the dizzy and move to mapped ignition, and by then I reckon you guys will be well on the way to sorting the throttle bodies. On that score, anyone tried looking at the Suzuki bike units a la TL1000R... twin injectors per cylinder and an easily mappable ECU to boot that should be in the right ball park for size and flow characteristics (no, you can't have mine )?

pupp although the bike ecu is easily mapable,as in yosh box, dynojet fuel commander,i dont thing theres gonna be enough scope and range in the map for a RV8 motor.but what a nice idea, even if you had to run two ECUs in tandem for both banks of four butterflies you may have started something now.....imagine the later gixers variable throttle bodies.i used to own a gixer 750i srad that had 46mm bodies just the ticket i reckon.

Finally decided, after a serious look at what is on offer and the various pros/cons, on a V8 Developments 4.6L stage lll. Going in next week for installation. Will post again when run-in and sorted. Cheers Jeff

My mate has had a V8D 5.3 litre dropped into his Range Rover after the original engine did that porous block thing and blew up.

No 2.5 tonne Range Rover should ever move that quick and sound that sexy........................Awesome and I havent grinned that much since I got my first V8 TVR..
