insurance says: replace alarm
Discussion
Brand new proud owner of a beautiful 1999 Chimaera 4.5 in the Netherlands.
Trying to insure my Chimaera proofs to be more difficult as anticipated. In each case it seems the factory fitted alarm is judged to be insufficient. Although the Dutch TVR importer is willing to write a declaration the alarm is class 2, the insurance companies insists on class 3 (perhaps we have different ratings here as class 1 is lowest and class 5 is highest standard and security including track and tracing). Any suggestions? Can the existing alarm be upgraded or should a brand new one be installed with class 3 certification. And what problems can be expected when installing?

Class 2 alarm can be upgraded to class 3 (including "hill detection", not sure whether this is the right word. Means if car is tilted on either side, the alarm goes off), in stead of completely replacing.
Cost: Euro 285,- which is much cheaper then to replace the whole thing. Problem solved and thanks for your kind advise.
