Hi,
Some worthless little low-rag has broken my passenger side mirror clean off whilst my car was sitting peacfully on my driveway. Why my alarm didn't go off, I'm not too sure! However, the internal metal breakable bit has been destroyed. I need a replacement as soon as possible as I use my car daily.

Does anyone know a good source in the Cheshire area?

Thanks,

Slacey

Might be a long shot, but it's a Citroen CX mirror, right? Why not try Euro Car Parts or similar? Probably cheaper than a TVR dealer or specialist. Just an idea.

Here may be able to help:-(although I can't see the 'tripod' part you will need - but ask)

www.computermarket.com/mall/3933C3F3/OZ_Computers_Online_Mirror_Repair_Parts_77.html

They do do complete mirrors too:-

Err, the dealers are pretty cheap for these and they're only about £12 anyway. The advantage of the dealers is they tend to have stock.

Fair enough. Just a suggestion as I said, wasn't sure if the parts were hard or expensive to get hold of at the dealers.

Really? 12 quid? Seems like I was robbed then. Are you sure you're not talking about the tripod (7 quid)? My tripod survived, but the metal cage inside the mirror didn't...

You can get the tripod from www.tvrcarparts.com for about £8 + postage. But if like mine its the internal chassis of the mirror thats broken then you need a new mirror. IIRC £160 ish from a dealer, less from tvrcarparts or do what I did, bought a brand new one on ebay for £80. All of these are unpainted of course so you need to talk nicely to your local indie or paintshop to finish the job....

Oh and beware, they changed the connectors on these mirrors so when the new one is painted and fitted you'll need an auto electrician to rewire it.

FYI Mine ended up as £80 for the mirror (plus a few quid shipping) then another £100 ish for the removal of broken one, spray and fit the new one, rewire the connectors and the fitting of the door opener button (removed from the old mirror). The new mirror didnt have the door opener as it was a standard citroen one.

Or if you are feeling like doing some work yourself, buy the new mirror, strip the painted bits off the old one and fit to the chassis of the new mirror then refit to the car. You have to cut and patch all the electrics and its a pain in the arse - thats why I had the garage do it !
