Chim, 4.0 1996.
Does anybody still use the adaptor between the plug and HT lead as I noticed that in the dark there is arking around the adaptor and the head. Just wondered if it is ok to put the plug leads straight on the plug or will the exhuast melt the main insulator on lead.
Cheers.
Steve.

You can put the lead straight on to the plug but the adapter has a resistance value, and this may affect the running of the engine if you dont do it on all of them and have the correct leads. Also the plug lead will get very hot and can melt. Its more of a get you home thing than a way to run the car.

The are a Vauxhall Cavalier part and cost about £2.50 from Vauxhall. or you can get them from ACT products.

They must have cost 2.50 from Vauxhall when Noah entered the Ark, last time I looked they were nearly 9.00 each - ACT do non-resistive ones for 3.50 or so.

I have the adaptors on mine....been on since i bought the car earlier this year...i dont see any reason to take them off if they stop the leads melting.

Briefly ran mine without them when a set had passed there best and were causing rough running, the leads didn't last long, especially on number 8. Replaced the cooked lead and got another set of the extenders from ACT and all was well again.

Castle-race-engines.com.

Ordered a set of leads and extenders from Jamie, found them to be very good quality, reasonably priced and most of all 1st class service as others on this forum have also mentioned.
