24 posts in 6 days, not got a great PH history yet have we?

Suggest you contact your garage they will be able to tell you how to gain entry in an emegency.

Can really see may people are going to freely part with this type of information to a relative newbie.

IIRC no, you need entry into the car to get access to the battery.

Suggest you put up another post asking for a garage in your area.

Or I could change the title of this one.

You might want to remove your phone number too, lots of scrouts out there.

I keep seeing posts about this secret method and bearing in mind my car gets driven about 5 miles a week at the moment, I doubt it will be too long before I need it!!! Could someone PM me the method please?

Cant you get at the main feed 12v to the starter solenoid from underneath to attach a battery charger? This attaches directly to the battery.

TBH the 'secret' way in is actually a lot more fiddly than the 'obvious' way in!

TBH I have been told the 'secret' way in but the more obvious one is much easier - perhaps London Thunder will be a good chance for everyone to share this information ;-)

Sorry but your going to need a little more mileage on PH before owners will divulge sensitive information.

May I suggest you ring your garage.

Being a newbie myself I had the same question "what happens if...etc". Anyhow I worked it out, wasn't hard, but now I'm wondering whether *my* way* is the same as you guys, guess it must have to be

Now this is no secret, plenty of posts on this if you search :-) Basically once you get some charge into the car battery you will need to reset the alarm as it will have got upset. Simplest way is to remove the main earth from the car battery for about 5 seonds. Then stick it back on. Then within a few seconds press the fob button. You should find the alarm and immobiliser reset and now everything works :-)

After a good charge the alarm reset itself...what a relief!!! though trying to line the battery box up with the bolt is another story! I've had the car (a 96 4.0) for approximately two months and have loved every minute of it.
