I have a problem with my drivers side window, very slow to move up or down.
Have stripped it out and the mechanism works fine just when I reinstall everything the alignment seems out of whack somewhere. Have followed Steve Heath Bible advice and put washers at the rear top bolt of the vertical support guide, with no improvement. Have cleaned everthing possible. Without the front/rear guide channels in place it runs up and down OK.
What I did notice was excessive wear in the bolt holes in the horizontal metal channel with rubber insert that the glass sits in. The bolt holes are much larger than the bolts and the whole thing has been bodged around with, in fact one of the bolts and spacers was missing and lying in the bottom of the door. The metal channel is stamped with the Audi/VW logo.
Anyone know what part the channel is from in Audi/VW range?
Anyone got any tips on how to get the window to rise and fall normally.
Cheers

Thanks everyone for contributions so far, I'm not easily beaten...usually anyway, so I will struggle on and try to solve it, there must be a solution, the passenger side is fine, that tells me its got a good chance that its down to wear-and-tear of one or more components, now which one is it is the question.
My suspicions are still on the fabricated channel that the glass sits in, which itself is attached to the motor mechanism. As the bolt holes are worn to quite a bit oversize the whole glass rocks back to front on up or down movement.
So still looking for the origin of that piece of metal, the bit that is attached to the glass at the bottom if you remove the window from the door, anyone know what its off ?
