Sorry in advance for being a nugget.

Re the deadlock/alarm situation with my L reg 4.0.

I've activated it and got the obligatory flash of indicators and subdued beep from within. Now....does this mean it's immobilised or just alarmed. The reason I ask is if possible I don't want to shell out for another immobiliser if there is one on the thing already. scratchchin

Is it immobilised or just alarmed?

Sit in the car and press the blipper to alarm/immobilise, then try and start the car if nothing happens then it is immobilised as well.

I assume you have the standard Meta alarm so that means its alarmed AND immobilised.

My 97 model comes with a key that you can use to turn off the immobiliser should there be a problem with the alarm. I have a slot by the ignition with a red flashing light that shows when the immobiliser is activiated. To deactivate the immobiliser I either briefly press the alarm fob button OR insert the key in the slot. In both cases the light stops flashing for 15 secs and the engine will start. Do nothing and the imobiliser re-activates afer the 15 seconds. or is it 5 seconds > something like that anyway....

Not sure if this is the same for an L plater but IIRC they were pretty standard

No blipper grumpy It's operated via the door lock, ie turn completely to the right, indicators flash, then turn key to the 12 oclock position, and take key out.

I reckon it's immobilised...but no flashing led inside....

can't you simply "activate" the system with the window open, wait for the system to settle and then stick your head in... or do the same and try open the door from the inside?

Very good point, when the torrents stop I'll try just that.

Hmmm ..are you starting from way over on the "left" or in the middle..? You need to start by putting the key in, pushing the button in, turning it left, then going all the way to the right IIR my old one C

(or was it left, then button in, either way, you've got to start on the left, not the middle)

Hope it helps. ..did you know that you can lock the car without setting the alarm if you want to, by rotating the key from top to bottom (without pushing the button in) and taking it out, therefore stopping the button from working.
