Sob! The 4.0 Is Going. In Part-Ex For A 5.0!!!
Discussion
I've had the 4.0 for just over two years and apart from a few (easily fixed) niggles it's served me well as an everyday car.
Couple of weekends ago I went out for a spirited drive through the countryside and was somewhat surprised that a (chipped) Focus ST was able to keep up. Hmmmm.
So I considered a few modifications and posted a question in here. Got some good answers too but then came the voices "Buyyyyy a Fiiiive Huuundred.......Buuyyyyyyyy a Fiiiiive Huuuundredddddd".
So I did
What am I in for?

I did the exact same thing, you will be very pleased, the difference is substancial.
Just be careful in the wet it bites. I had the same thing with cars you would think would be easy to beat but end up being a challenge or an embarrassment. Not any more ask the guy in his Noble who i had an encounter with on Saturday beaten at least 3 times on the trott acceleration, through the gears, and a couple of rolling starts, all to an indicated 160mph

I've been on several track days now, and on the road too I've realised there's always someone out there faster in a car you wouldn't think of.
Elise, on the track they far out handle the Chim, but the power on the straights helps me to keep up. I was dusted by an R32 last time out, ok, he could have been an ex F1 driver...
But the thing is, those cars sound like sewing machines and look like average boy racer high street crap. Halfordmobiles.
I'm happy with the 450!

The new ST with chip can put out 300bhp, so its no suprise with a 400 he pulled your pants down. I had one of teh previous generation ST170's as a company car & any VAG diesel would out run it on accelerative terms - it was rubbish.
I have a 500 now for a year and beleive me the focus won't see which way you went, just make sure its not demonstrated on a corner in the wet.

Ahem.
Just for the record there was no 'pants downership'. He just kept up.
He also made some EXTREMELY dubious overtake manouvres on blind bends/hills and the like to stay in range. Given that I don't want to die (yet) I let those pass.
Rematch in a week or two post collection of the 5.0, then we'll see.
