Change Of Body Colour?

Im having my Chim resprayed in a couple of months. It is presently Cureton Green but has a lot of stone chips and general body marks.
It has been suggested that i could have it any colour i wanted and dont necessarily have to go for Green again.This has got me thinking because i love Blue.
Has anyone changed the colour of their car and more importantly would it devalue it?
Any comments would be appreciated in helping me to decide.

The newly fitted carpets are very light beige and the leather/vinyl is parchment (grey/beige).
Yes it will go but im concerned that it will devalue the car even though im sure it will be a top- class paintjob.

To be honest 4 litre chimeras aren’t exactly fetching much these days so you probably wouldn't devalue it too much, a photo history of the respray would be good to show people the work that was put in.
How much more is the colour change costing? If you’re getting it how you want it then go for it! Surely you won’t be selling to soon after paying out for the work to be done?

Can't see why a colour change would devalue the car. Hiding something? Hiding what exactly - huge patches of filler? Thats the way they're made my boy!
Anyone who knew anything at all about "plastic" cars would not be put off in the slightest by a colour change. As long as its a quality job I'd go right ahead.
PS I almost went down the Reflex route when I had my Speed 12 conversion, but the cost was a bit steep. Not likely to be worthwhile on a Chimaera, unless you REALLY want it and don't expect to get the money back when you sell.

I can't see how changing the colour will have a detramental effect on its value. There are hundreds, neigh thousands, of green and blue Chimaeras on the road, these were the default colours. You may be able to increase its value slightly by having it sprayed a non 'default' colour, thus making it more desireable
hmm also a big fan of blue (the colour NOT the pop band!!!
) it might only devalue it a tiny amount, but any prospective buyer might think "what's really wrong with it?" and walk away to buy another one costing more... so you just might have a problem selling it altogether
then again your interior (your car's not your own personal interior
) would easily match with blue.
but changing it for some funky fliptone then the reason is easy ... "I didn't want to buy another car cos this car was a good example but really wanted a car with a fliptone colour"
i suppose the debate then becomes... is there much call for a chimaera with a funky fliptone colour as they are more traditional in concept than say a tuscan

My Chim was that Lambo purple before I bought it. The chap who had it before me decided he loved the car but didn't like the colour so he paid £2500 to change everything to Jaguar Antigua Blue
I bought the car before I realised this, but have never regretted it. I don't think the car is in the least devalued. In fact you'd need a damn close look to notice it had been sprayed.
My advice is go for it - it's your car enjoy it.

I spent the winter researching the subject and came to the conclusion that a "modern" colour will not devalue the vehicle as long as the colour suits the interior.By far the opposite.My car is a 1996 Cooper Green Chim with 17k.I put it into TVR Bodyshop in Bristol a few weeks ago. I am having a speed 6 headlight conversion and colour change to GTS Viper Blue. The interior is biscuit.Its not cheap but you get what you pay for (hopefully).It would have cost me an additional 15k to get a car of a similar mileage.I am also having the hood retrimmed from black to blue.Let you know how it turns out in the next few weeks.
