On and off over the last year or so I've had occasional hot start problems ... i.e. turn key, fuel pump primes, but absolutely nothing from the starter motor. This got markedly worse since the underside of the car took an unplanned bath a few weeks ago. If the car was cold, it fired up straight away as it has always done. Let it warm up a bit, and the starter motor seemed to be dead.

I've just fitted David Beer's Modwise Hot Starter Kit and the problem is cured. I let the car idle until it was cooking and restarts are now no problem at all.

It is simple enough to see how you're supposed to fit the kit. As always, actually working in the Chim footwell with the electrics is a bit awkward, but the whole job only took half an hour, and most of that was spent getting the torch to balance in the right place so I could see what I was doing.

I'm very pleased with the result. It's a hell of a lot better than unnecessarily replacing starter motors in order to compensate for inadequate electrics.

sometimes yes, sometimes no

It was part of this site: www.clarion-service.co.uk/

If you ring Clarion and say you're after "mod wise", they'll pass you through to David Beer. He's a pistonheader too, so can be found on these forums.

I fixed my hot start problem even cheaper. Check the ign terminal on the starter is in good condition mine wasn't. Replaced the thing and the hot start has never reappeared since.

For future reference: Hot Start Problem Guide, includes installation instructions.

Glad it solved your problem, it's a great kit!

Wow, thanks David. I'm happy for you to use them. Ideally just send people the link or if you'd prefer to give them a printout please just make sure that the url is on there somewhere.

If you'd like me to add anything to the instructions please let me know.

Just spoken to David, had the hot start problem about four times in the last couple of years, hasnt really bothered me too much, in the past. However after the leeds festival, mud filled field, rear wheel drive car, combine that with the hot start problem a 8 hour queue to get out and some very unhappy people behing me when my car wont start and you have a headache. Many thanks to David, very helpful and a great guy to deal with, many thanks.

Fitted this mod last week after a couple of hot start
issues recently. Car was up around the 100 degree mark
at London thunder and car started perfectly every time.
Highly recommended mod.
