hi
had a fire under the bonnet caused by a electrical problem (dont know details).
Now I've to change some parts but dont know the part numbers & sources.
Maybe someone here had a similar history and can help or have some parts left to sell me.

here are some pics:

It's a Chim 400 HC

It seems I need the following parts:

- PLUG LEEDS
- WIPER PANNEL
- WIPER BLADE AND COVERS
- FUEL PIPES
- INJECTOR WIRING LOOM
- HEATER HOSES
- BONNET CABLE AND CATCH
- THROTTLE CABLE

Thanks

I would have thought you'd get all that, between 'TVR Car Parts' and a breaker such as 'Bell Hill'.

Looks like you need a whole load of stuff there, your list doesn't look nearly long enough. Basically you need to remove and replace everything that may have suffered heat damage, and from the photo it looks like a long list. Apart from the obvious, don't forget you will need new injectors too, rocker cover air filter etc and that throttle return spring is probably wrecked.

that looks like a salvage car thats sat for a long while, its been standing outside anyways,,to be honest once you get all the crap bits stripped, the damage is not always that bad,as one of the other guys said a breaker is gonna be your best bet for these parts.

Thanks for the hints.
But the most important / first part is the enginge loom for ignition.
Does anybody know where I can buy this part (or at least the injector plug / male connector)? The breaker just cut it out...
I dont know if the a loom from ROVER is matching. The bible says nothing about it.

So until now I can recognise to need the following parts:

- injector wiring loom (or at least the injector plug / male connector)
- 2-3 injectors
- coil
- stepper motor
- plug leeds
- wiper pannel
- wiper blade and covers
- fuel pipes
- heater hoses
- bonnet cable and catch
- throttle cable
- Fuel pressure regulator
- Valley gasket
- carbon cannister hose

It dont need to original new parts but should match (used / replaced parts are welcome).
Because I am situated in germany it is not the next way to go to a breaker just to view (and the german brakers have not even one TVR...)
I mailed one breaker and he answered:
- PLUG LEEDS no stock - WIPER PANNEL please advise in more detail
- WIPER BLADE AND COVERS £20 each + vat complete
- FUEL PIPES please advise in more detail
- INJECTOR WIRING LOOM no stock
- HEATER HOSES please advise in more detail
- BONNET CABLE AND CATCH no stock
- THROTTLE CABLE £25 + vat (RHD)

I am also looking for a source to order LUCAS-parts.
So it would fine to get some more hints of You.

cheers
didge2
(and sorry my bad english)

After a fire like that, the car should be inspected and repaired by an experienced machanic. Judging by your questions, that isn't you. I don't want to seem harsh, but there is a lot more to this than simply replacing the burned bits, and some of the non-obvious fire damage could be safety critical.

You're right - I'm not a very experienced machanic (more a TVR enthusiastic greenhorn) - but I have friends who are it more than me and will help and check the whole system for safety. But I'm also very intereted to learn a lot of these things. At least the car have to pass the german MOT (TÜV) which is pretty penible with safety stuff. But pls give me/us a chance to try!

The injector wiring loom uses standard connectors and can be repaired by any competant electrician. Same for the ignition, alternator and ancilliary wiring. Velley gasket, injectors, fuel pressure regulator and stepper motor are standard 3.9 V8 Range Rover. You need to have all the injectors checked and serviced btw. Wiper panel and bonnet catch/cable are TVR specials, you could try TVR Car Parts, also the throttle cable. As for plug leads, wiper blades and hoses they are all standard consumable items. The fact that you're asking for help even to source these makes me seriously doubt that you are competant to repair the damage yourself. Apart from the few TVR bespoke parts, all these parts are readily available and if you're an experienced mechanic you should know that. Sorry again to be harsh, but these are not questions I would expect to be asked by somebody competant to repair a car in this condition.

And TVR is here not a usual car - I think this is in a circle of 100km the only one. Accordingly there are nobady to visit and ask expt. the net to ask for specialitys of TVR.
But I think Your hints are very helpful.
Thanks

if its any help the bonnet cable can be replaced with a universal one(easily located i know cos mine just snapped)and its better quality, you will also find the bonnet catch is off a MK2 ford fiesta, there is a good part no. on the catch if you clean the dirt off.i have to agree with the others on this, you will need to get the car checked over i would also change every seal and o,ring in the area of the fire connected to the fuel injection system, good luck.

Does it look likely that a split fuel hose may have given up the ghost to cause this fire.
On both my Chimaeras I have noticed lots of little hairline cracks along the hose running across the rear of the engine, and one actually started to send a very fine jet of petrol across the engine bay, luckily no fire was started.

it appears this a a favorite on these cars,(i have seen a few salvage chims with this problem)i dont think the excess under bonnet heat adds anything towards the life of these hoses either,i would carry out regular checks on these hoses, any signs of swelling, cracking or otherwise get them changed rather than putting them on the (to do list).I would imagine this go,s for griffs also.

fuel hose does look like the culprit, i had the pipe split on my chim, no fire thankfully...

I'd try ebay for some of the bits under rover v8... I cot a complete 3.9 range rover injection system, manifold, plenum, injectors, throttle linkages, throttle pot, idle control valve fuel rail, regulator, loom etc for about 250 quid
