Having recently bought myself a chimaera and having no garage need to consider a 'coat' for the winter. I phoned TVR but for obvious reasons they wouldn't endorse the use of one.
My second car is an MGF,I have had a cover from Argos before, but spent more time chasing it down the street every time the wind blew. Any advise would be welcome

take a look at www.leventechnology.co.uk/index.htm and the hood cover - that'll keep the car snug and water tight.

Classic Additions do a breathable cover which is very good - I use it to keep the crud off the car a sthe wind blows constantly down my road.

If I lived elsewhere & was just after keeping it dry then a hood cover would be my choice as it look to be easier to put on or remove.

Either way, spend some time making sure your P&J doesn't leak & you will be sorted which ever cover type you go for.

I used these guys as a fellow Pistonhead friend ( Buzzin Hornet) has one for his Caterham. Their services was excellent and the product is good

Hi,

I use this one (Wheatershield) to my full satisfaction for my Chimaera:

I used a Hamilton Classic one. Very pleased with it as it's properly breathable, lined (to prevent paint wear), has two securing straps and can be placed on a wet car (the only one I found that could do this).

Halfords sell a lightweight breahtable cover, not their own make, for about £40. The medium size fits a Chim very well. I used mine first on my wedge then the Chim and it is just starting to break down and tear very easily after two years use so not bad I reckon.

I have one of the Leven Technology ones for the Griff.
Its secured by a tab at each end which your push into the boot and bonnet so I use it pretty much all year round. If the car is going to be out overnight in the frost it goes with me, and I've taken it to two Le Mans to keep the dust and heat out of the car.
I rarely carry the roof panel but this goes everywhere with me.

Good Tip thanks. With all this good advice on car coats the TVR is going to have a more extensive wardrobe than me !

Bought me first a very expensive weathershield custom made cover. The fit was excellent, the cover itself was not. Just returned it and was offered a kind total refund. In the mean time I ordered and received the Leven hood cover and am very happen with this one. Also I ordered a Hamilton outdoor cover on recommendation. Have not received it yet, so unable to comment on it. Seems to be the only one you can put on a moist car.
